Street Furniture Design Competition

Extended Deadline: July 6, 2024 at midnight

Exhibit Dates: August-September, 2024

Street Furniture Design Competition is a freestyle design competition open to all; concept stage, prototype or finished product by student and young designers, design studios, and design-oriented manufacturers in the City of Seattle area.

Competition is open to everyone including students and professionals. Design a piece of outdoor furniture, which is ergonomically sound, cost effective, environment friendly and feasible to build in the time frame to be installed on August 16, 2024. We encourage designs for all types of outdoor furniture that invite engagement and interaction as well as support the placemaking efforts of the project. View project Site Plan for contextual inspiration.

The U District Green Street Summer Activation project is an experiment in 'tactical urbanism', where quick, light, and cheap interventions will shape a section of urban street for the summer. An encouraged theme is 'shelter'. Click here for more information on the project.

No Fees
Unlike other design awards and competitions, you are not obliged to pay any fees for competing.
